Great Time Saver

I've had this for about 6 months now, and if you've got the space (it's bigger than you might think), I highly recommend it to everybody who owns a cat, and especially if you own two cats. The daily chore of cleaning out litter boxes can be reduced to 1-2 times per week.

As for cleaning, it's pretty good on its own, but if your cats have a habit of eating things they shouldn't (like spiders), it's easy to pull it apart and clean it out with a hose (although you might want a hand with that if you're a bit older).

There are two things I will definitely recommend:
- The overpriced step. This will drastically reduce the amount of litter that ends up on your floor, and it comes with a set of bags. It also helps skittish cats who refuse to jump into the litter box, since they can stand on it and look inside.
- Clumping wood litter. I haven't tried the ones on this site, but the Catlux litter is easy to find, and I suspect that it's similar. Create a mix of half clay litter and half wood litter, and the smell of the waste disappears (and there's a fair bit of it when it's full).

Regarding connections to WIFI, it will only work on a 2.4GHz WIFI network. It can find 5GHz networks, but will not connect to them. The app works well though, and is far easier to use than many others (like the horrible LG and Canon apps).

The only real downside to this litter box is that if you don't stick to a schedule and it ends up completely full, it can spill out on the left side of the tray before it stops automatically emptying (it's easily brushed out though). Hopefully in a future revision, the left side is raised up or sits slightly embedded into the wall to capture more of the waste.

Took a while to get it wifi set up but once done it’s been great.
The tray underneath would be better without the lump in the middle as all the waste tends to accumulate to the LHS of the tray, meaning I still need to clean the tray twice a day for 2 x cats.

My kitten have no issues using it, the set-up is straightforward if you read the manual, no odour, it does cling to the sides a little if your cat have soft stools but it can be easily wiped cleaned with wet wipes. Peace of mind is the main reason I got this machine, it's open drum design means it won't trap the cat in anyway

Would buy again

Does what it’s meant to. Sometimes a bit smelly but may have something to do with the litter type than the machine itself. Cats adjusted quickly and I don’t spend my days cleaning up after them. They have to jump to get in but doesn’t seem to bother them too much.

Unforeseen problems with Wifi

The litter box is great. Both my cats took to it in no time. Unfortunately I was one of those who had trouble connecting to WiFi. It took over two weeks of trying and back and forth with Catlink to solve the problem which turned out to be my MAC address was not on the whitelist for Australia so I never had a chance without their input. They were very good and Carlos who I e mailed was great. It’s just a shame that I had to have the issue in the first place. Now it works I am loving not having to constantly sift litter and the smell is minimal. As long as the draw is closed it isn’t an issue. However if you just want a box that empties itself I’d go for the ‘Young’ version without all the fancy WiFi much cheaper and for two weeks that is effectively what I had and would have been happy if I hadn’t paid for the fancy WiFi version.
