I've had this for about 6 months now, and if you've got the space (it's bigger than you might think), I highly recommend it to everybody who owns a cat, and especially if you own two cats. The daily chore of cleaning out litter boxes can be reduced to 1-2 times per week.
As for cleaning, it's pretty good on its own, but if your cats have a habit of eating things they shouldn't (like spiders), it's easy to pull it apart and clean it out with a hose (although you might want a hand with that if you're a bit older).
There are two things I will definitely recommend:
- The overpriced step. This will drastically reduce the amount of litter that ends up on your floor, and it comes with a set of bags. It also helps skittish cats who refuse to jump into the litter box, since they can stand on it and look inside.
- Clumping wood litter. I haven't tried the ones on this site, but the Catlux litter is easy to find, and I suspect that it's similar. Create a mix of half clay litter and half wood litter, and the smell of the waste disappears (and there's a fair bit of it when it's full).
Regarding connections to WIFI, it will only work on a 2.4GHz WIFI network. It can find 5GHz networks, but will not connect to them. The app works well though, and is far easier to use than many others (like the horrible LG and Canon apps).
The only real downside to this litter box is that if you don't stick to a schedule and it ends up completely full, it can spill out on the left side of the tray before it stops automatically emptying (it's easily brushed out though). Hopefully in a future revision, the left side is raised up or sits slightly embedded into the wall to capture more of the waste.
